Who It Is For

Built for Teams Working with Raw Scan Data

Wrap training suits any team that needs clean, usable meshes and surfaces from 3D scans.

Scanning and Metrology Teams

Register, clean and merge scans into data your engineers can use downstream.

Product and Industrial Designers

Turn scanned forms and prototypes into clean meshes and surfaces for design work.

3D Printing and Prototyping Teams

Produce watertight, print-ready meshes from scans without hours of manual fixing.

Heritage, Research and Media Teams

Process scans of artifacts, props and environments into accurate, archive-ready models.

Course Outline

What You Will Learn, Day by Day

Two days covering the Wrap workflow, from raw point clouds to clean meshes and surfaces. The detailed agenda is available on request.

Day 1

Scan Registration and Point Processing

Day 1 takes raw scans from several positions and turns them into one clean, registered point cloud, then a high-quality mesh.

  • Set up the Wrap workspace and the data types it handles
  • Register scans by shared features, picked points or targets
  • Clean point clouds and wrap them into a high-quality mesh
Day 2

Working with Meshes

Day 2 turns that mesh into finished output: repaired, watertight models, feature curves and NURBS surfaces ready for CAD.

  • Repair, defeature and smooth meshes within tolerance
  • Build watertight models for 3D printing and extract feature curves
  • Build CAD-ready NURBS surfaces with auto and exact surfacing
How We Run It

Private Training at Your Facility

Every Wrap course is private to your team and delivered on-site, anywhere in Canada. OptimumARC is a Geomagic authorized training partner, founded in 2009 and based in Canada.

1

Pre-Training Call

We talk through your scanner, your data and the output you need, then shape the course around it.

2

On-Site Delivery

Our instructors come to you, anywhere in Canada, so your team trains in its own environment.

3

Your Parts and Scan Data

Your team practises on your own parts and scan data, so new skills go straight into daily work.

4

Follow-Up Support

After the course, your team can come back to us with questions on live projects.

FAQ

Wrap Training Questions

Do we need our own Wrap licences and a 3D scanner?

Each trainee needs a computer with Wrap installed. A scanner is not required during the course. We work from scan data your team already has, and if you do not have any yet, we plan around that on the pre-training call.

Does anyone need scanning or CAD experience?

No. This is a fundamentals course with no prerequisites, and we start from the basics of scan data. Team members who have used a 3D scanner or CAD software will move a little faster, but neither is required.

Can we train on our own scan data?

Yes, that is how we run it. We ask about your scanner and file formats on the pre-training call so the course uses the data your team works with every day.

Does the course cover preparing scans for 3D printing?

Yes. The course covers building clean, watertight meshes from scan data and checking that a model is fully closed before it goes to print.

Should we take Wrap or Design X training?

Take Wrap if you need clean meshes, freeform surfaces or print-ready models. Take Design X if you need editable, parametric CAD with a feature tree. Wrap is also a common prep step before Design X or Control X when scan data needs serious work.
